Keeping different species together?

Post by Ryan-Hughes »

Ok so i have 2 purple pinchers together and an ecodurian or however you spell it in the same tank. I read somewhere that you have to keep at least 2 of the same species, is that true? But the thing is that the petco and petsmarts around me only sell purple pinchers and i got my ecodurian at a pet store by my cabin which is like 2 hours away so i cant go there until next summer. WIll Squirt my ecodurain be ok being the only one of his species?

He should be okay. Keep an eye open for more Es, but he shouldn't have too much of a problem in there for now.

It is not actually known if any species thrive better with another species of their own kind. But if and when I bought hermies here we always made sure we had 2 of the same species. (ok, I did an overload, I bought 4 of the same kind.)

It wasn't an overload, Marie - you were being...careful, in case more than one died due to PPS or other factors...right...just stick to that story!

Sounds good to me Emma! :D I only did the 4 of the same species with the Indo's, rugs, and straws. So guess I'm not completely ... addicted even though the last 4 straws made this place an 82 hermie household. Haven't bought one in a few years now...
