Re: I bought a new crab...
First guess would be an E hermie. But one would need a clear close up picture of the large pincher, a side view of the eye stalks, and a picture of the last left rear walking leg to be 99% sure.

Ok, I was guessing that it was an E but just wanted to check on here. I will try and get more pictures tomorrow and post them. Thanks. :]

Re: I bought a new crab...
May I make a suggestion? For now it is not relevant as to whether he is an E or not. He is a new hermie and should be permitted time to de-stress from all he has been through. Taking photo's will only add to the stress he has already been subjected to since he was ripped from his home in the wild. Just make sure he has plenty of time to adjust with plenty of properly mixed ocean water, fresh water and very nutritional foods. He looks like a very handsome hermie!

Re: I bought a new crab...
Thanks. :] He's in his ISO tank now de-stressing before I put him with the others. Should I wait a week or two before I move him to the regular tank? Or longer?

Re: I bought a new crab...
IMO this can vary from hermie to hermie. Here if a newbies seems to be acting normal, changed or tried shells on and eating and drinking well showing no signs of illness in a week they make it to their main tank. But some do take a little longer sometimes to de-stress.
