moulting without changing shell?

Post by arhoads »

I have an E that keeps going down for 48 hours or more at a time. After the first 48 hours her color looked darker and prettier so I thought she had a super quick molt or something but she hadn't changed her shell. She keeps going back down for 32 to 48 hours at a time, she inspected shells like crazy last night but wouldnt change even though I have a large variety similar to what she is wearing now.

E's are known for not changing shells. Once brought home they may change, but then it is forever and a day before they change again it seems. But one thing I noted too... if or when that rare occasion does happen they change (or even attempt to try another) shell on, normally within 2-3 weeks they do molt. Don't worry too much as long as you offer a variety and a plentiful shell supply.
