It was really weird the first time i saw a hermie's abdomen. It's weird and unexpected if you don't already know what it looks like.

I hadn't seen one until we got to see a shell change. OMG it's funky. LOL I no likey nekked crab butts.

Lol yeah, we're so used to just seeing eyes, antennae and a whole bunch of legs lol, their body looks strange. But it does have the typical crustacean look about it I suppose

Last week I got a phone call from one of my friends who bought her son 3 hermies for his birthday. She was crying/laughing so hard I couldn't understand her. Apparently one of Toby's crabs decided to go streaking and it freaked Corey out. She was like "I've got an alien creature running around the tank! What do I do?! I'm so not going to touch it! Jaci do something!" After calming her down and reminding her that she's in CT and I'm in MO, I told her to transfer him to another container using a spoon or piece of paper. She added several shells with him, along with his old shell. Eventually he crawled into his old shell and all was well.

It is not a "butt", it is called an Abdomen :) .
