Not too sure? One doesn't need to like animals unfortunately to get $$$ for 'suppose' to be taking care of the animals. In reality I have seen some who really dislike vertebrates too (dogs and cats) due to litter pans and having to scoop doggy doo. Seems some would prefer just to collect the pay check period, but this is not just one pet store, it happens in all. Even family owned pet stores...I guess the Petco guy was one of those who I call 'dog-and-cat people'; they only care about vertebrates.
