Where do you weigh in?
There is probably some advantage to having a same species friend, but many of us have noticed that our crabs in mixed tanks tend to hang w/ crabs that are similar sizes regardless of their species. If I was a crab, skin color wouldn't mean much to me; I'd pick a friend my size that I could swap clothes with!

I agree mine seem to hang with similar sizes regardless of the species.

I dont really notice a pattern. But I dont have many crabs. I only have 5. 4PPs and 1 straw. 2 PPs are down,a nd so is the new guy(straw) The other 2 PPs hang around together, but they are the only ones up, soooo...lol. O, and dont worry, the straw wont be lonesom. I am acually leaving in like 15 minutes to go get him a buddy/ buddies.

i'm with cheyenne. all of mine are PPs, but they range from micro to jumbo. the little ones will climb on top of the big ones; occassionally wendy and aries (both medium) will share the choya wood; there really isn't a pattern. zeus and apollo are my biggest and apollo seems to be more of a loner than zeus who continually digs his way into some of the smaller huts, ignoring the 2 huge huts i bought for him. lol. that's funny to watch. i'll have to post pics of him getting in it.

my first two crabs (Kitty and Tian), that I bought at the same time and shared a tiny tank together for a few weeks, are friends and hang out together. they're both Es, but I don't really think that has anything to do with it. I had one other E, and they were friends but not close the way Tian and Kitty are, and my new E is still getting acclimated to the tank and all that. I haven't seen much interaction at all between my two PPs, probably because one of them spends more time buried than aboveground.
