Hey everyone,
I just purchased 4 crabs yesterday.
Is it normal for them to bury themselves and hide away when you first get them?
How long will they hide for?
I'm worried because this means they aren't eating or drinking...
They had a quick wonder around the tank when I first added them, and last night someone moved the food around but didn't eat anything.
One of them had a quick bath in the salt water before digging down and burying herself.
Just wondering if this is normal, or if I should be worried.
Thank you!

Re: Question About New Hermit Crabs
Yes, most likely they are destressing and will come up in the following weeks. Remember, they got taken from the wild, kept in really bad conditions while being shipped to a wholesaler, shipped again around the country and eventually ends up in your local pet store..... And now your home.
It would make anyone just want to chill out and get a bit of me time.
Just provide the best for them, they will come up when ready.

I've never had any problems with 'Impulse Buying'. They're just animals that I forgot I had planned to get.

Re: Question About New Hermit Crabs
Hermit crabs don't necessarily eat every day and you might not seeing them drink at all. They store water inside their shells and occasionally food too.
