I was cleaning out my tank yesterday when I realized that Stella was missing. I'm assuming she's gone for good. Stella was very very shy, and I didn't get to see her much. When I got her she was missing her big left claw. She molted once and grew back part of it. I was very interested in how long it would have taken her to fully regrow it. I will miss having Stella in the tank and having those very exciting moments when I saw her out and about.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. A similar thing happened to Gomez, I just never saw him for months, I assumed he was molting, but he was a micro. And I never did find him. I got rid of the crabs in about early March, and the last time I had seen Gomez was in September. I guess he was either eaten, or he had escaped. Or maybe he was molting but he died in his cavern. Who knows.

You don't have your crabs anymore?! Wow, I really have been gone for a while.

Do you think she escaped? Or do you think she died? I have heard that EE as a substrate makes crabs decompose faster - do you think that's what happened?

I'm pretty sure that she died, because the last two shells I saw her in were empty. They weren't burried or anything, and I never noticed any odd smells coming from the tank. She just disappeared. Kind of like the mystery of Kaluha and Mojo, I never did find their shells though.

You do have some ninja crabs there. They just disappear...maybe they're looking at you from the other side of your room! Just kidding...but seriously, I wonder how that happens.

Yeah, I have no idea. I would have found them around my room and around the house. Plus my cat has zero interest in them and I don't have any other pets. It's a huge mystery.

Oh dear... do you have a screen lid or something that's fully crab-proof?

Yes, I do. I don't know how my crabs seem to disappear.
