Missing Crab?

Post by lmsaeb »

Pretty sure I know the answer, but needed to ask anyway:

In April, our pellet stove broke down. Our house grew way colder than normal. Despite having heat lamps, my crabs buried themselves. A few weeks later, one surfaced. He is still around. The other one never resurfaced. I have seen no trace of him. Since this would make 6 months, I am assuming he did not make it and just wanted to get confirmation that it is very unlikely he is molting for 6 months. Thanks.

PS - hermit crabs should not be sold as pets. We have learned these little guys and gals are not "beginner" pets and sadly, I do not feel, despite every attempt to give them a good crabitat, that they are happy.

Try digging for the crab. If it has been six months already, then I would do a search rather than waiting indefinitely.

Honestly, I've known crabbers who have had their crabs stay under for 8-12 months without a peep, so the little one could still be chilling out underneath.

I've never had any problems with 'Impulse Buying'. They're just animals that I forgot I had planned to get.
