Can I feed them these?

Post by erikleeson »

Well I have no shortage of food, but for some extra foods to my list can I feed them:

•Sand which meats
•Canned tuna
•moist dog/cat food
•Occasional salted peanut
•Occasional shredded cheese
•Peas

Which can I feed them and which can I not feed them?

I know NO sandwich meats but the others I am not sure about. You need to check out the safe and unsafe food list.

Due to family issues my crabs have been adopted out to wizkidsmom (Cheryl), I know she will care for them like I did. Thanks Cheryl

I'd say no to the salted peanuts. Nonsalted are fine though. Mine love them. :)

Ok, what about Unsalted sun flower seeds? Or Rice or Couscous or cooked noodles without the sauce?

no sandwhich meats, prefer to not use anything thats in a can, no salts or spices, dog & cat food is a no(there's a good article at Epicurean about this)

Cheese and peas are fine. (another dairy article at Epicurean)

Rice and noodles in dechlorinated water, again no salt. You can use olive oil on the noodles.

whole wheat couscous is a good snack but it gets very expensive and the amount you buy could feed a million crabbies at once.

Thank you, my immature sister was reading my hermie book and she said they can eat human feces so she said I should take a dump in the food dish :P

I know i shouldn't have mentioned that...

What about OCCASIONAL (like once a month) Coconut, it came in a bag and it says its sweetened.

They love coconut, I got my dried coconut in the bird food section. They do have some that is by zoomed hermit crab coconut but I like the stuff in the bird food section. I did do a fresh coconut once but the day I got it and broke it open and got all the meat out they all dug under and the coconut went bad by the time they came back up.

I wouldn't feed them sweetened coconut. You can buy unsweetened coconut and doll it up w/ honey or 100% pure maple syrup, but the sugar that is in that baking stuff is not good at all. If you don't have any unsweetened coconut, then other plain nuts would be just as good to substitute: walnuts, peanuts, pistacios, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, almonds, pecans, etc.
