Molting in dry sand
this is isn't happening to me, but it could very well happen to any of you. You gotta keep the sand moist. Mine dries out after about a week and a half so I dump water on it. I got 6 crabs molting right now. Do think its bad to dump water one the surface if a crab is molting there?

Yes, I just mist mine daily, even if the sand is still really wet, I think that it is helping him moult.

Yes but i am talking about the whole substrate being moist. Even if the surface is moist tha doesn't mean the whole substrate is.

Re: Molting in dry sand
If you dig in your sand a little below your surface, is it still wet? That's the easiest way to tell if you're wet all the way down. I've never heard of sand drying out that fast. I mist my sand once or twice daily, and it stays moist the whole way down, or it's at least felt that way when I poke a finger in.

Re: Molting in dry sand
well I like it wet, not dropping, but not moist. The crabs love digging in it. Thats hwy I moisten it every 2 weeks or whatevs. It also boosts humidity, and the dishes and stuff sink right into it.
