What makes you think the crab pinched off the others' claws? That doesn't usually happen. Unless your friend actually saw it happen, then it's more likely that the other crabs lost their limbs due to PPS.

Well the first time she didn't know what happened. But the big crab was in the tank at the same time and the next time she saw it happen. so she just aussumed that the large one did it the first time.
