Post by RYANDM »

I was thinking of trying to use Egg shells for their calcium in food. Does anyone know how i can prepare this?

Wash the shells thoroughly in crab-safe water and, if you want, microwave or boil them (or just use shells from hard boiled eggs if they were boiled in crab-safe water, i.e. no table salt in the water, no vinegar like my mom puts in hers, and no tap water) to kill any bacteria on them. Crush them up and offer a little bit in their bowls. Another thing you can use for calcium is a cuttlebone sold for birds to get calcium from. Crabs will love these too!

Emma has great advice. I just put a couple pieces of cuttlebone in the tank and they munch on it whenever they want. I also have some crushed up (put it in a plastic bag and pounded it) to sprinkle on their food now and then.
