In all Seriousness You could buy a 4 dollar plastic Tote, 3 bucks worth of Eco earth, some Salt and Sponges and food All for less than 20 bucks to save this one crab before getting a 300 set up. I understand you want a nice set up but If it was me I would try keeping it in a paper cup with a wet paper towel before letting it continue to be abused in that manner. Just saying if someone was torturing me I would rather go to the homeless shelter than the Ritz if it got e out of a abusive situation.

You can call the health department and tell them there is reptile fighting and they are using crabs too. SAy you are concerned about the Salmonella aspect of this as its not sanitary and certainly not legal to gamble with exotic pets. if not good enough, have you thought of going to your local municpal meeting and telling them? If you care enough to worry, then be brave enough to say something. Remember, keep the Salmonella issue up high and you will get results. Gambling is illegal even if its a parakeet in all States. JMO

Already tried. Every time I call it's leave a message an never answered. But I guess you all make a preety good point. I'll go a little cheaper... I think 100 should be efficient. But I have a hunch that if I can make a hermit safe lid for a lidless tank things will go ALOT smoother and cheaper.

Obviously your friend is heading in a abusive direction which begins with small things and then he will get board and start with other living things, such as cats and dogs and then people. I would just not bother with that person or expose myself to the entire situation as you can do nothing about it. If you hang out with this person you are only going to get depressed and apparently your "friend" gets a thrill from watching your reaction. I suggest you just walk away from this relationship with this person before he you get blamed along with him when he starts on bigger and more exciting (for him) prey. Don't let him control you as being his voyour.

How can you say he's a good guy?? Look at the whole picture!! Anyone who does what he is doing, should never be classed as a good person!!!

He is a good fella but I hate the buisness. He's really nice to people but to reptiles..he doesent really care. It's like when you swat flies. What is the difference between the life of a fly than anything else. If that's the case we are all bad people when put into that sense. If people are bad for animal abuse then what about the mosquito we swat? A hermit crab gives an incredibly painflul pich but a tiny bite and we kill a monsquito? Like I said he's a good guy around people but until I found about the fighting trend.

I don't know how old you are but consider this a lesson in maturity. It is better to walk away from this person even if he appears to be a nice guy. He is NOT a nice guy because if he were really your "friend" he would not be rubbing in your face the fighting that is going on with the crab. I mean a friend will not bring you into a stressful situation unless he is NOT your friend and enjoys (or gets off) on watching your reaction of stress. He is doing to YOU an abuse and is not sensitive to your emotional needs.
If you are determined to friend this person then you need to accept what he does because he is not going to stop to make YOU feel better. Sounds to me like he is mentally ill. JMO

I'm mad at him right now but we've been friends ever since I was 4. He just got into it about 2 months ago. I'll try and convince him to stop and treat him properly. The weird thing is his crab loves his sister. He gets really active when he smells her scent. She has a massive 200 gallon tank she found online. She has too many crabs to add such a large crab as his to her tank-especcially since 20% of her crabs are micros.
