on saturday karyn, one of my managers who didn't work that day, called the store and said that her sister-in-law's sister has 3 large hermies who she wants to give a good home to and she thought of me! so i'm getting 3 more hermies. unfortunately we lost timmy this morning.
for these new ones, adam and i decided (he's "adopted" ike and will "adopt" the new 3 with me) to go with greek gods/goddesses. i hope to get them tonight and get them named. we'll have to see. i'm really excited. so is there anything special that i should do for large crabs as compared to small ones? i've only had small ones, should i do anything different? the one the size of my palm is in one small plastic cage and the other 2 are smaller and in another plastic cage. should i get another 10 gallon tank? is that big enough for them? do they need some place to hide? hermie huts are way too small. they're coming in their cage, food, sponge, and shells. i know they need sand, which is fine, i have that, but what else do i need?
Yeah they do need a place to hide this is what I did. I took a butter bowl and cut a hole big enough for them to be able to get through. I didn't like that (but it worked for the time til I got something new) so I went to the dollar store and went into the graden section and found this thing that says turtle house and placed it in there most of my big ones get in it. They also like all the vines I have in there and they climb on them and hide.
