can i feed this shrimp recipe to my hermies?

Post by hermiemommy101408 »

it's called Shrimp, jicama and mango salad the ingrediants are

3/4 cup water
2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 pounds large shrimp, shelled
1 small jicama, peeled and cut into 1/4 inch dice
1 mango, peeled and cut into 1/4 inch dice
1/2 cup chopped cilantro or flat-leaf parsley
6 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper
1/4 cup olive oil

the water will be dechlorinated and the salt will be replaced by instant ocean of course

but what about the dijon mustard and the black pepper?

I'd have to say no to the dijon mustard and pepper. I doubt if they could eat the mustard. :)

No black pepper and I must agree with the mustard as well. Another note, due to shell disease outbreaks, all shell fish offered to hermies should at least be steamed first prior to offering... no raw shell fish.

What does the generalization of shellfish include? Oysters? Clams? Mollusks? How heavy are the shell outbreaks?

To the best of my knowledge the outbreak was first noted in Australia. Not long afterwords here in the U.S. and not long after that Canada. Yes, it includes oysters as well... lobsters, shrimp, all shell fish.

There have been crabbers in both U.S. as well as Aus. that had their hermies infected with this due to serving raw shell fish.
