My crabie is naked =(
Two days ago one of my crabs died. She left her shell at night and we found her in the morning. Now my other crab is out of Her shell. I have had them for two years with no problems. No mites, we checked and rechecked. Now I have been spraying her for 45 min-ish, about once every 5 min. Is there anything else I can/need to do?

Get a glass, and inside put in some sand on the bottom of it. Put in the naked crab. Wash out his old shell to check if there's anything inside that poking his abdomen. Make sure the water has been dechlorinated before doing so. What bedding are you using? Keep the tank in a warm dark place with a humidity level of between 75% and 80%.

Our little Missy is a stubborn crab!!
She has gone naked...again...and of course we followed all the crab rules, boiled the shells, put her in the glass, encouraged her, but that little rugrat won't go in!! We have tried 21 different shells in 2 days!!!
She just looks at me like she is saying..no thanks..naked is best!!
Her temp, and humidity are fine, and she seems just fine in her glass cup...but she is Refusing to choose a shell!!
Anyone ever had this stubborn of a crab?

I had one of my original ten crabs run around naked for two weeks a few months back. I tried everything to please that crab. It was after a molt so I asume it was from a stressfull molt. Don't know what else it could have been if everything in the tank was perfect. It was very sad to see him go like that. When I last found him his abdomen was all dried out. Grrrrrrr!!!!!!

Re: My crabie is naked =(
Thank you for writing. I thought for sure my crab was going to die when we saw him without with shell, crawling around the sand, then just sitting for hours, eventually getting back in the shell. He was done it twice now over the past week, and I have NEVER seen a crab do this! He has salt bathing water and fresh drinking water, clean food, proper heat and humidity, and the sand is clean, so I don't know what he's doing! I did separate him just because I don't know if he's sick or not; from blogs I've read he may be getting ready to shed. But just for a few days, if he seems ok and maybe just likes running around naked . . . I will keep his abdomen wet though!

You can put new shell in there and rub a little of peanut butter on the eadges of the opening and see if that works. Oh and I use Organic peanut butter(don't forget to put it in the freezer).
