DBL molt

Post by ssuzi1111 »

Hey fellow crabers,
First, thanks for all the info you all gave me when I first started out, it was a really big help. I have continued to read up on all you have to say about the hermit crabs. But I have a question. Sense I last posted and now have all of my conditions corected. my two lil ones seem to have dug them selfs in under the sand, Blue the smallest went under first and then Shay went down the next day, they have been down for about 3 days now I didn't notice any molting signs other than they did drink all the salt water that I put in, every day/two shells full twice a day, as well as a dish of regular water, didn't notice much on food filling. My question is if they are both molting at the same time, should I seperate them? I have became very attached and don't want to loose either of them.
Thanks for any help,
Suzanne

Three days is not a long time, and you shouldn't be concerned all the time that they're molting. If they have been down for at least three to four weeks, then they might be going for a molt. However, don't dig them up because that can really stress and kill them.
