Garlic and Seafood recipe

Post by Crabbie_Tabbie »

I was wondering if anyone can tell me a recipe for hermie food that has garlic in it. I am looking for something along the lines of a seafood garlic recipe. I am going to set up a booth about hermit crab food at a garlic festival and one of the requirments is to have something for show that has garlic in it. I figured since It was taking place at the beach that a seafood garlic hermie food would be the best thing to have. My only request is that I want this a dry food so that I can make a bunch up and not worry about it going bad before I get there. If anyone can help me I would greatly apprieate it. I have been looking everywhere on the net for home made hermie food and havent had much luck. This will be my first attempt at making a home made food besides giving mine cut up apple which they all fight over to see who can get the most.

Please help me if you can or send me in a direction that can help me look for what I want.

Thank You,
Crabbie Tabbie -.-

Garlic is on the unsafe foods list and should be avoided. You can not use garlic in anything for hermies. I guess the garlic festival is not going to have hermit crab foods.

One can almost make any recipe them self for hermies. But please do be extra careful about garlic if you opt to put it in hermies food.

After surfing the net I noticed that there are store bought hermie food that has garlic in it. So if Garlic is on the unsafe list then Why do store bought foods have it? I believe that it was a vacation food that had garlic in it. What is in Garlic that is nt good for hermies? I just dont understand that. Everyone talks about unsafe food list but I havent located anything about what is good or bad for them. Can someone please help me.

Did you read the embedded links I provided in the post I did?
Well, as for hermie sold pet foods... first thought that comes to mind is majority of them also have ethoxyquin and/or copper sulphate in them. Both of these are insecticides and our hermies are from the arthropod (insect) phylum.... so figure that one? The hermie salts they sell geered towards hermies, first it is not known is it made with a fresh or ocean/sea salt mixture? (with freshwater salts it has recently been learned are harmful to hermies) Hermies should be offered a ocean/sea mix that has the elements from the ocean that they need, with a salinity level of 1.021-1.024 to remain healthy. When one mixes the hermie salts per the directions they do not even register on the hydrometer? A couple of the beddings sold for hermies have cypress in them, another dangerous item to hermies.
