IS my hermie dead or not moving!!

When i did my check on my hermies this morning i looked at one of my crabs which i have had since i got my hermies, he had been hiding quite alot and would only surface to eat and drink and bath, but this morning when i checked on my hidey crab (his name) i picked him up and he fell out of his shell. Cause i am upset if he is dead i moved him into the iso tank and put food and water near by. i am so wooried about him. to make sure he is okay ( i doubt it) but i made sure he was scopped up with his sad which he was in and hope he is ok. I am worried because he was one of my favouritwes. I make sure the heat is between 23-26C and the humidity is correct. so i hope by the time i get home tonight he is okay, because when i moved him today he fell out of his shell. To give him an option i have placed new shells in the tank. So i hjope all is well. He was a healthty crab and seemed to act normally. But the strange thing is when i checked him and smelt him he didnt smell fishy. so i hope he is ok. but if anyone has any ideas what to do please let me know. I am severly destressed and this is the first hermie i have had die. after owning them for over 9 months. I have grown so attached to them. i have cried soo much because if he is dead i would blame myslef for it. Thabkyou.

Check the body that fell out. Does it have an abdomen attached or is the body hollow? If the body is solid and has an abdomen, your crab may have died. Sniff carefully. It can take a few days before the dead smell comes. On the other hand, if the body is hollow and you see a little pink crab inside, then he has moulted.

Wai seems to know it all! :D
When there's a smell, you will know what it is when it comes.
It's very strong and fishy.
(even if you smell anything, still you may want to jsut of signs of life, just in case)
