Mayo?

Post by hermiemommy101408 »

I love when my grandma makes me tuna salad it is so good and i was wondering if i could make a hermie safe recipe of tuna salad for my lil babies. But is mayo good for them? if i cant use mayo what are other alternatives for the mayo? the ingredients include canned tuna fish, peas, mayo, macorni pasta and mustard.

Try reading the ingredients on the mayo jar...
you might make a little mixture in a small bowl of all the ingredients except the mustard and mayo.. not sure about mustard, it's usually pretty pure, just mustard seeds and water. :) Mayo has preservatives and chemicals in it that I'd be suspect of so wouldn't use it.

I'd shy away from mayo and mustard, personally. Even homemade mayo contains vinegar, which isn't good for your crabs. Mustard also contains vinegar as the most common liquid.

I'd say you should put some hard-boiled egg into it and some fish, olive, etc. oil. If you have egg powder, you can use that too.

Make sure the tuna is free of salt and is in spring water... no types of oils.

It can be. Heavy metals from the can can get into the food but not always. I think it depends on how long it's been in the can, etc. I've given a little bit of stuff from a can, but not very often.
