I'm assuming that you're holding your crab by its shell. If this is the case it is probably just trying to grab onto whatever it can since your crab is not used to just hanging there with nothing under it. Try putting your crab on the flatened out palm of your hand. That way it will feel much safer and hopefully won't pinch. Just make sure your crab doesn't walk off your hand. Put your other hand in its path to walk onto. I hope this helps.
