If it is from the freezer section of a pet store I would say yes. (I feed the raw silversides to our hermies here) But if it is a human grade raw fish, I would strongly recommend at least steaming it with dechlor water.

If this is wild caught please make sure what the pollutant levels are of the lake/river/creek are. Some now are not even considered safe for human consumption, make sure of the mercury levels... something that cannot be cooked/baked/broiled out of the fish. (yep I love to fish too!)

dont think the pollutant levels would be very high at all, because you never see any rubish near it or in it, and there are no factorys near it (let alone in the town i live in.)
also all the water in there is fresh from the ocean (its a river type thing leading to an inlet)
so it should be ok

I think you should ask your parents to find out the mercury level of the stream in question (through the internet or a local city council maybe). It's a precautionary thing, not necessarily because it's there but because it could be there. The ocean has a higher level of pollution than we generally figure, and it can carry a lot of stuff into the waterways that feed from it.

Mine get tilapia, salmon, and fresh caught bass from a private pond. I should get busy and prepare some Gone Fishin' Crabotanicals foods again with this last catch. I like to feed them the tails with the skin and scales on. This is kinda gross, but I also give them the guts when catching fresh fish.
