sea salt mixes in australia

ive been using alluminium free sea salt for humans, because i dont know what sea salt mixes are ok for hermit crabs, that are sold in australia.
could some one give me some brand names?
another problem, is that there arnt many brands to choose from in the few pet stores near where i live.
is what ive been using ok ?

Unfortunately, what you've been giving the crabs isn't okay. When you go into the pet stores, go to their fish tank aisle - you will see mixes for salt water aquariums. The common brands in the US are Instant Ocean and Oceanic. Just make sure that whatever mix you buy states specifically that it is for salt water aquariums, not fresh water ones. I know that a lot of the smaller pet stores in my area don't have these mixes, so I have to get mine from the big pet stores (in the US, it's Petsmart/Petco/Pet Supplies Plus). If you don't have that option, maybe there is a aquarium store (sometimes called "Marine Reef Stores") near you that has some, or look online for online suppliers. Your crabbies will thank you!

i will try to see if i can get some, but the pet stores near where i live are pretty simple ones, that only have basic supplys. i think one of them may stock it though, and i will puchase some, if possible next time i go there, thanks

Yes CCG, even the small pet stores should have ocean salt mixes, as there are people who have sea salt aquariums that they need the mix for. If in the case that your little pet store does not carry it, do ask them if they know of anywhere nearby that does. In the worst case, you may be able to order it online.

my parants are going to go to the pet stores tomorow.
im going to get them to write down the names, and prices of the different ones (if there are any)
and ring me up and tell me so i can tell them what one to get. if not they will bring home the list, and i can find one that is sutable, and i will get it next time we go to the pet store.
its hard because the petstores are 3/4 of an hour away, and we dont usually go there often.
but i will try to get it asap

I am using Red Sea Salt. Only use salt designed for salt water fish, since I'm quite sure that it has been tested for safety and quality (unlike hermit crab salt... who knows what crap they add to it?).
