I got me another new hermies today. I named her Sandy. I am hoping she will change shells quickly. She is in a small conch shell but it has chipping red paint on it. YUK!!!

Oh dear

Offer her plenty of shells and encourage her to change. A chipping shell is no good, and once she's out of it, try removing the paint.

congrats on the new crab, hope she changes shells SOON! Also, when you remove paint, i have heard you can use nail polish remover then biol the shells really well. is this okay?

ditto on the congrats! i haven't gotten a new one in over a month. but i'm happy with my 3! lemi has been in painted shells since i got him and the next size up is painted. i'd like to get the paint off before he moves in and get them sanitized asap!

She is a very active little thing. I see her up and mobile more than my others. Even in the daytime. You can take and boil the shells and handle them as soon as you can before they get all the way cooled down and it should peel right off. I did that with another shell I had bought and it turned out to be one of my most prettiest shells.

I usually boil mine for about 10 - 15 minutes. Then peel off what I can and then drop it back into the hot water if it did not all come off. By the way, just in case, only do this to empty shells.

i promise not to boil my crabs. i love them too much for that. both of the new shells that i bought for wendy are natural and are really pretty.

i'm hoping she chooses the grey and white one bc that's my favorite, but before she went under last night she was checking out the one that's a bigger version of the one she's already in. *sighs* oh well, maybe i'll have better luck with bebe or lemi picking out the grey one. lol. we'll see. lemi and bebe are still considered small. wendy is medium. we'll see.

I have noticed that when mine change shells they tend to change into the same kinds too maybe they pick the kind of homes they prefer and just move when they get to big for it.
