i'm going home for the weekend and all of my crabs are up except for Athena and Wendy who are molting. Wendy I should see soon, but Athena will be under for a couple months. One of my managers offered to watch them while I'm gone. So I took them to work and when she brought her husband and 2-year-old daughter came in to pick them up, Ashley promptly told me that she was there to "pick up some cabs" (no misspelling). I took them to the back and let her see where they were hiding. I told her all their names and she repeated them. I picked up Ike and held him in front f her and she got up real close and goes "hi, hi" and he went back into his shell. she looked at me but I told her that he was playing hide-and-go-seek. she just giggled. but it was adorable! I was amazed how many adults that I bring the crabs around are freaked out, but here's this little 2-year-old who loved them! it was funny.

I have a niece who is 4 yaers old. One of my hermies pinched her but she still asks to hold them. My sister (her mom) is scared to death of them.

haha! how cute!

"my" crabs were supposed to be for my 5 yr old, but we all know how that ends up... hehe.. the kids really like looking, and they'll hold them, but poor Jilly (my only crab at the moment) is too scared to come out while being held..

they had so much fun with them, but i forgot to tell karyn that they are nocturnal and she had to put them downstairs at night bc they kept waking her and clint up. lol

exactly. especially zeus. the day she brought them into work so i could pick them up, we had no one in the store so we took the huts out and made them walk around. lol. and i actually heard them chirp! i was like..."do we have a cricket in here?" karyn goes "no...we just got sprayed....do hermit crabs chirp?" then i was like "huh". i think it was either bebe or ike, they were next to each other with their antennaes going. what's chirping mean? bc i heard it a couple of times that night. and since i put them back into their cages everyone is buried! athena, zeus, aries, bebe, lemi, wendy, ike. everyone! *sighs* i have no one to take out and play with

athena and wendy have been under for a while, but why everyone else is under i have no idea. i miss them! lol

I have read thata chirping means they feel like they are not safe. I do not know for sure but thats what I have read. They might just be glad to be home.

see, that is the first time i have ever heard them chirp. and i was wondering if it meant they were scared or something. i asked karyn if they did that while at her house and she said no. they only chirped that one time at work, but chirped more after i got them home. should i be worried or something?

ok, they haven't chirped since, so maybe it was a one time thing.
