Should I get a Straw Hermmie?
I've looked into hermit crab care for awhile now. I've upgraded my hermie tank three times already to provide it with adequate temperature and humidity. So far I have 2 purple pincher hermit crabs of my own. I've been looking into getting a straw hermmie to keep them company. I'm not sure if I'm ready for one because i've heard straw crabs are harder to take care of. Is there anything I should be aware of pertaining specifically only to the straw crab before getting one? Thx

i dont' have any straws, but there are people who do. i know that the temp and humidity have to be carefully maintained. it can't vary. i would definitely do some reading online about them and listen to those in here who have straws. but doing research is a good idea to see if you're ready for one. remember, some hermies connect more with their own species, so if you get one, really consider getting 2.

OK. I own 3 straws. The humitiy can never ever drop below like...78%. It is preferable to be 80-85%. The temp can also never go below 78* and no higher than 83*. Straws are VERY active, and HAVE to have a LOT of things to climb. They also need hiding places. Straws like to be with other straws, so Id get at least 3 if you get any. Also, they need A LOT of space since they are sooo active. So what size tank do you have? What size hermies? What are your conditions??
