Salt water
My Mom has sea salt that does NOT have iodine in it. Is it okay to use it? If so, how much do I mix in what amount of water and do I need to keep it in the frige?

Re: Salt water
Its best to get aquarium salt, or you can purchase a hydrometer for your batch. Get a good handful of salt and add it to your water batch, which can be a bottle or milk jug. Keep adding the salt, until you think you added enough, then add the hydrometer to the water. If it floats with the colored range, its salty enough. If its to low, add more salt, to high, add more water. When your done, shake your batch for 10 minutes to dissolve the crystals. Keep the bottle at room temperature.

Re: Salt water
One should not use any forms of human grade salts (be it sea, organic, or table salt) to mix their hermies ocean water pond. One needs to use an ocean/sea mix sold specifically for salt water fish tanks, not the freshwater fish tanks. (there is an 'element' difference in the 2) Hermies live by the oceans/sea's and need these elements from them to remain healthy. One needs to measure the ocean/sea mix per the package instructions. Offering a too highly mixed ocean pond can eventually burn the hermies sensitive gills, an irreversible damage that cannot be regenerated through molting. This mixture should be shaken well and left to sit at room temp for 12-24 hours to ensure all the salt granules have dissolved.
