FOOD
I am still not sure which food i should give my hermit crabs. I don't want pellets because they won't eat that. Are there any foods that are inexpensive, healthy, and liked by hermit crabs?

Re: FOOD
Thanks. But I was wondering what commercial food would be good.

Re: FOOD
none. most commercial foods have deadly preservatives like exothyquin and copper sulphate and can harm YOU if you hold them. They are bad for the crabs and they hate the same food and may even starve themselves if this happens. Its safer and more convenient to feed them fruit.

Re: FOOD
Feed them fruit and meat, and veggies. Anything that you would eat yourself minus any additives or salt. Feed them only organic foods that you prepare yourself or that come from Vicki's food store. I agreewith erikleeson. No commercial foods are good for the crabs. Also, gravel is not good substrate for crabs. Crabs must be able to burrow down into digable substrate in order to molt. They will die if they can't dig down into sand or EE to molt in. Gravel chips off and irritates the crabbies abdomens and gets stuck in their shells. Sand proves to be no irritation to a crab. They can just go wash it all off in their bathing pools.

Re: FOOD
The key to your crab's diet is variety which is something you can't get from commercial foods.
Addiction store has foods
So does www.thehappyhermitcrab.com and www.crabbagepatch.com
You're best bet is to order a variety of foods (most have sample/variety packs) and then supplement with fresh foods from your fridge.
