Soccer the Meanie?

Post by tomtru »

Soccer's my biggest, and he knows it. I've actually had to iso him once because he was being a meanie. At the time, the only iso tank I had was a kk. Soccer DID NOT appreciate it, but apparently he learned his lesson. Every once in a while, he'll do something mean, but, usually, he's ok. I put a NEW loofah sponge in my tank for them to play with. One day, Soccer was perching on it, and Darth Vader (my son named him) decided he, too, wanted to perch atop this new toy. Soccer went over and knocked him off it! Mean mean Soccer! So I reached in, removed Soccer, put him in "time out" and gave DV the coveted position. DV was so grateful! He perched and climbed for a while, then lost interest and went to a different part of the tank. Meanwhile, Soccer pouted in the corner. One of Soccer's two favorite spots in the tank is the larger of the two hermie huts. I couldn't find him for anything earlier, but I finally found him in his little spot. Usually, he's helping himself to the buffet table. Little glut!

Welcome back!

Soccer sounds just like my Jupiter. For once she's quiet (that's because she's molting :P). Jupiter would knock others off her 'property' and would prefer batting others aside than climbing over. What a big girl...

They're quite humorous. When I first started crabbing, I never dreamed they'd have so much personality. Soccer and AF are, no doubt, my most pesky. Oh yeah! Hermie-onee hatched yesterday! She's been down for a couple months or so. Glad she's back! I've still got two down, though. I wish - just once- everyone would surface at once!! ^)

Crabs don't always do things as intentionally as humans do. Make sure you're not anthropomorphizing your crab and punishing him for things that just happen. :)

As weird as it sounds, I know my crabs as well as I know my children. Soccer was being mean. I didn't iso him for the last incident; I just moved him to a different part of the tank. But all's well now! In fact, he dug down earlier. I suspect a molt is afoot....
