Some questions...

Post by Panther_Shadow83 »

OK, first of all, one of my hermies is kind of a pale pink-ish color... does this mean that she is going to molt soon? Or is it normal?

Secondly, how do you set up an isolation tank for a molting crabbie? Would coconut bedding be OK to use in it?

The hermie may have already molted!

An isolation tank consists a substrate at least three inches deep, a lid on top, the three dishes (food, fresh and salt water) and spare shells. Put the crabby into the ISO and put it in a warm, dark and humid place.

Well, last night when I was holding her, she came pretty far out of her shell and I saw a grey-ish black-ish blob inside of her shell. I believe that's her molting sac.

I don't think she's already molted, she's a dull, pale pink, not like the pictures I've seen of hermies who have just molted.

Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna go get the ISO tank ready!

Sould I spritz it with water for humidity, or will that stress her out??

You can spray the air inside the tank, but do not spray the crab itself. That will most certainly stress her out.
