i am stressed at the moment i have a hermit crab which is in a shell far to small for him and he has just moulted his legs and head laying out of the tank. my problem is cos he is exposed will the surface tempature cook him eg will he die from being a surface moult. i have him in ISO thats where he moulted i am am going to cover him in a cocohut so he is more protected then i will let him be i suppose.i know he is very weak and cos he is a jumbo there is a prob of him taking ages to recover. i just hope he survives Do u have any suggestions of what i should do to him? now i have covered him in a cocohut so he is in the dark and left him with a sponge and water to keep humidity up so he doesnt dry out! Thats my biggest problem. and the scariest
he is in a shell he can only put his bum in despite having a selection of shells he can move into. the tank temperature is 23C and humidity is 78%
ahh i am one stressed hermit crab owner.
thanking you very much!

help
Try boiling some of the shells you think will fit him. Keep him warm and moist with food near in case he needs some. After hes hardened he should change if the shells are to his liking.
Hope it helps
