I might be worrying about my hermies way to much...seriously i do worry over them lol specialyl since we justm oved to canada from georgia.
Anyways, my smaller crabs keep going into larger shells and like...stuffing themselfs in there.
Well I take the smaller ones out every other day and handle them right? so theyll get used to me. But theyve literally lodged themselfs in the bigger shells.
Is this...ok? I mean can they get out if they need food and such?lol that was my main worry..i know its gotta be stressfull with the move for them. Concidering for the time being I have to keep them in a smallish container cause of the move.(were still in the process).....and it is much much colder here..I try to keep them warm by keeping the house warmer lol

small crabs in big shells are normal. mine do that a lot. One of my crabs has NEVER been in the right size shell and i've had him for a year. ANother one of my herms just changed into a way small shell. It's normal, some just have wacky taste in size.
Do you have any humdity gauges or thermometers? Try to keep the temp and humdity ranges between 72-80.

and no not at the present time i havnt been able to really get to a pet store that even knows about hermies , since we left atlanta. Every one where we have been staying, have been in shock that i own crabs. We've been staying with his mom while we waited for our house. She about had a heart attack when i brought them in lol
buuuuut what i have been doing is sticking them in the bathroom and turn the shower on for like 20 min to get it kinda steamy..just to give them a bit of humidity. Also they get baths like once a week for sure , they love their bath and i mist them once a day. so hopefully ....my babying will be ok lol
and thanks, luckily were leaving for our house tomorrow morning and we will be in it on monday for sure.

First of all welcome ot the forums and there are no dumb or silly questions thats how we learn things. I think you mean they are in their right size of shell and them and the shell go into the bigger shells. Mine do that all the time. As a matter of fact the other night I took mine out to bath them and clean the tank and when I was cleaning the poo out of the shells my daughter was helping me and she said mom their sounds like there is something in there. It was one of my small crabs in this big big shell.

i had the same problem. i had gotten a small crab from petsmart and she moved rite into a huge shell as soon as i got her home. i think she may have been threatened by the bigger crabs in her tank at the petstore so she hide in a really big one. now she is in a shell that is more her size
