Well, I got to my friends house last nite around 9:30/10:00. All 4 of my hermies made it okay. I ended up buying a large size "critter carrier", put some subtrate in it, moistened it up, and put in on the floor under the floor heater. Once I got the temp and humidity up to about 82-85 it was good for about 45 minutes with no heat. It was one of those plastic carriers...so I covered 3/4 of the tank w/ plastic wrap to keep the humidity in and then put the cover on...WELL, my biggest, Julius Ceaser, discovered that he could hang upside down from the plastic wrap. It baffled me, I was laughing s hard. Yah I ended up pulling over to get him down.
Any way, my temp in my crabitat WAS running about 78. Last night during the ride, the temp in the carrier was about 83. Is this why ALL 4 crabs were so active???

it should. mine are pretty much active at night (they're nocturnal) but if you pick them up to play during the day, they don't have a problem with that. lol
