However, it is not always accurate and if you have doubts about its accuracy, please post photos of your hermit crab in the Gallery and we will assist you. Keep in mind that body colour is not a reliable way to identify the species of a hermit crab except for C. perlatus, although C. rugosus and C. violascens can be red too.
